There are worse things, more important things, happy things, all manner of things that allow hope to drive out despair after such a grueling, draining grind that didn't accomplish its goal.
There's much more to digest before attempting to translate it into useable or even readable prose.

I learned two things:
There is a deep divide in our
area, but sadly, a few more of the ignorati than the illuminati, so
our friend lost. On the bright side,
there will still be two against
the top dog and his little dog
