I Have Been Renewed -OR-Nevermind -OR- Happy Birthday John Prine

Quiet Man Copyright- John Prine

Strolling down the highway with my shoes in my hand
I don't talk much I'm a quiet man
Beauty and silence both run deep
And they're running like crazy while you are asleep

You got news for me, I got nothing for you
Don't pin your blues on me
Just go ahead and do whatever you wish to

Last Monday night I saw a fight
Between Wednesday and Thursday over Saturday night
Tuesday asked me what was going on I said,
"Sunday's in the meadow and Friday's in the corn."

You got news for me, I got nothing for you
Don't pin your blues on me
Just go ahead and do whatever you wish to

Hocus-pocus, Maladjusted
Don't you think my tears get rusted
Steady losing means you ain't using
What you really think is right

You got news for me, I got nothing for you
Don't pin your blues on me
Just go ahead and do whatever you wish to

Oodles of light what a beautiful sight
Both of God's eyes are shining tonight
Rays and beams of incredible dreams
And I am a quiet man.

Oodles of light what a beautiful sight
Both of God's eyes are shining tonight
Rays and beams of incredible dreams
And I am a quiet man.

Oodles of light what a beautiful sight
Both of God's eyes are shining tonight
Rays and beams of incredible dreams
And I am a quiet man.

When last we saw our intrepid blogger, he was wallowing in indecision and doubt. What was the point? In appealing to our better selves, there comes a point at which one has to wonder if there is such a thing. The empirical evidence would suggest that indeed, as the Old Milwaukee commercial suggested, "It doesn't get any better than this".

What options do we really have? Well, I think we're beginning to see a few. While it would be nice if they were mainstream ideas, it certainly isn't the first time that we've bypassed the traditional to achieve a goal. It's taken a large measure of self-determination to demonstrate the benefits to the larger population. I'm cautiously optimistic that the present efforts to tamp down discontent to beneath the acceptable threshold will fail. There's just too much pent up anger and frustration with the status quo to think it can be squelched with symbolic lip-service.

There is an energy out among the Occupy groups that transcends anger. There is a courage and optimism that now is the time to be relentless in expressing the will of the people. `Til we outnumber them.

It's amazing. It's exciting. It's PEACEFUL. It's important.
and it's happening now.

--AAAnd I STILL have my screamin' red fly swatter with The Prinester's name on it. Found it on a local bridge after a fundraiser he lent
his presence to.
