Hie you now! -OR- Snooze = Lose.

Before Twitter, I hear that people used to write letters. Longhand, typed, scribbled and scrawled they corresponded conveying thoughts, ideas, complaints, hopes and dreams. What a concept! An upstart or start-up blog aptly named Letters of Note is off to a grand start bringing letters of import to the masses.

If you start now, there are only 60 in the archive. The auspicious opening note of note was from Disney Studios in 1938 to a young woman inquiring about apprenticing herself to the animation department.

Go here to read/see the whole.
"Women do not do any of the creative work in connection with preparing the cartoons for the screen, as that work is performed entirely by young men. For this reason girls are not considered for the training school."

What an amazing blog idea. The author, Shaun Usher, deserves any traffic he gets.
I urge you to visit. I assure you it is time well wasted spent.
By starting now, you'll be able to catch up, then stay current and not miss anything.

Let me know if you are as impressed as I've been by the quality and content.

Hey rehctaw - Yours is a great website! And Letters of Note is a neat site too - I'll have to get busy to catch up. Though I am less happy with this Disney letter, it was normal for the time, and for some time after too. Happens even now, though it is getting less frequent and is no longer normal, but it is more insidious and less obvious when it does happen. I have a good friend who worked for Disney Imagineering for almost 30 years so will send the letter/linkie to her. Take care - Be Well - Pellora
